Celebrity Rehab: We Love Dr. Drew
If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to check out VH1′s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (now in its fourth season) you might want to make sure you take a look, and especially tap into a series review should VH1 have one in the offering since it’s great to see the struggle and discovery from the very beginning. This season’s players include:Jason Davis who is best known as “Gummi Bear” in the media (he was actually on an episode of Millionaire Matchmaker last season) and is heir to Marvin Davis (who previously owned 20th Century Fox). Davis is trying to kick an addiction to heroin.Janice Dickerson who self-proclaims herself as the “first super model;” she lived a lot of years in the fast lane and is currently suffering from multiple addictions including prescription drugs and plastic surgery.Leif Garrett who was a teen icon (idol?) throughout the 70s and 80s has long suffered from addictions and unfortunate events as he grew up in the public eye and is currently trying to kick his heroin addiction.Rachel Uchitel rose to prominence as Tiger Wood’s “other woman,” but has also personally struggled with an addiction to prescription pills which started after her fianc was killed on September 11, 2001 in the World Trade Center attack.Others include Jeremy London (from Party of Five), Frankie Lons (mother to Keyshia Cole and star of Frankie & Neff), Jason Wahler (love hunk to Lauren Conrad from The Hills), and Eric Roberts (a Golden Globe and Academy Award nominated actor who just happens to have a very famous sister). It matters little whether or not you know who the celebrities are since the major take away from the show is that life’s struggles whether chemically induced or emotionally induced can affect even the most well-connected. And for that reason alone the show is sobering and insightful.
